Programs Descriptions (partial list)

Lindamood-Bell® Programs:

Seeing Stars®: Symbol Imagery for Phonemic Awareness, Sight Words and Spelling Program develops symbol
imagery for rapidity and permanence of phonemic awareness, word recognition, visual memory, contextual
reading fluency, reading comprehension, and spelling.

The Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing® (LiPS®) Program develops phonemic awareness for reading, spelling,
and speech.

Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking® (V/V®) Program stimulates and
develops concept imagery to improve reading comprehension, oral language expression, listening
comprehension, following directions, reasoning, word retrieval, sequencing, higher order thinking skills, and
written language aptitude.

On Cloud Nine® Math: A Visualizing/Verbalizing Math Program stimulates and develops symbol imagery and
concept imagery for math to think, reason, and problem solve with numbers in order to improve the ability to
learn math facts, understand mathematical relationships and concepts, and compute word problems.

In the Vanilla Vocabulary™ Program students use imagery to improve their vocabulary skills.

Phono-graphix® is a structured, systematic, multisensory reading and spelling program that is based on
phonemic awareness and alphabetic code knowledge. Fluent and accurate reading and spelling are the goals
of this program, with an emphasis on strategy instruction rather than rule memorization.

The Spalding Method® is a comprehensive Language Arts program that includes work in letter-sound
associations, decoding, fluent word recognition, rules of spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary development,
language concepts, grammar, sentence construction, composition, literary appreciation, text structure, listening
and reading comprehension, fluent and expressive reading, and a broad range of comprehension and
metacognitive skills.

Orton-Gillingham is the granddaddy of all effective reading programs. It is the structured, sequential
multisensory teaching of written language based upon the constant use of association of all of the following-
how a letter or word looks, how it sounds, and how the speech organs or the hand in writing feels when
producing it. Students also learn the common rules of the English language , as well as a variety of syllable
patterns and common prefixes and suffixes, then Latin and Greek word parts.
